While in New York, we enjoyed some sweet fellowship with my Uncle Bill and Aunt Margaret Shishko, my mom's sister. The Shishko's welcomed us with open arms and let us stay with an older gentleman named Kevin O'Toole and his dog Patty O'Flanagan from Ireland. We celebrated Kevin's Birthday on Sunday, May 11th. We had a great time visiting with Kevin and helping him out with whatever we could. We went to the church my Uncle pastors on Sunday, and enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship with the family. They live out on Long Island in the town of Malverne.
Manhattan and other places.
We did take a couple of days to explore the city. Saturday we visited the Central Park Zoo, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building and did a lot of walking :) We ended the day with a Hot Dog! They were awesome, or at least I thought so, but I don't really eat hot dogs...okay enough.
Now on Monday Stephen tried to sneak by without making us aware of his birthday...Not so cool. Thanks to Ben's good detective skills (trained by McGruff himself) we were able to have a good time. My uncle drew us a sweet map of Greenwich Village (a hot spot of NY) and we visited many-a-shops. These stops included drunken Goat Cheese at Murray's Cheese Shop; A slice of Pizza from Joe's Pizzeria (from the Spiderman movie); A conoli and Cheesecake for Stephen at Rocco's; and a strong brew from Porto Rico Coffee shop! What a sweet day. We ended it by riding the Staten Island Ferry and pushing Stephen into the icy cold water...:)
While in the city we visited my cousin Kelsey, who is modeling in New York, and went out for some dinner. Tuesday we spent the day goofing off, serving Kevin around his house and packing for our next stop - Niagara Falls. But before we could leave the city, DiFara's Pizzeria was calling our names.
DiFara's Pizzeria is an epic Pizzaria located in Brooklyn and IS the best Pizza in New York. Check this link to find out why. So we called in an hour ahead of time for a Pie Pepperoni half with Artichokes. Wow! We got there an hour later and met up with one of my classmates from my 05' Graduating class - Susan Coble. She came and enjoyed our pie with us along with some ...you know it IBC Cream Soda!!! wahoo...what a way to end the day...we left from there and arrived at the Falls about 7:00 this morning...
The Falls were pretty phenomenal...The long drives are proving an awesome time to write post cards, fellowship with Jesus and tear through a few books I have been wanting to read.
( A special thank you to Uncle Bill and Aunt Margaret - Louis Berkof - already a great read.)
Writing from Detriot, Michigan - we are staying with Steven's Uncle and Aunt - who have graciously opened their sweet pad up to us for the next few days.
